John Hogg (1765-1826) was a white enslaver and legislator primarily in Hillsborough, N.C. Throughout the early 1800s, he frequently corresponded with Duncan Cameron (1777-1853) of Orange County, N.C on the status of enslaved Black people and various business issuess. In 1800, Hogg claimed seven Black people in ownership. In 1809, he donated $25 to the construction of the South Building at the historically white University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
